What if I don't know how to dance?
You DO know how to dance. This practice isn't about knowing fancy steps and choreography, it's about moving what's true in your body. It is a moving meditation. By putting your soul in motion, you will discover your dance.
Why is there no talking on the dance floor?
By getting into a conversation, your energy leaves your body. It's a way to escape what's going on inside your body. Just like in a sitting meditation practice, the purpose of this practice is to stay present with your meditation (in this case, your movement meditation) throughout the session.
What if I don't like the music the teacher is playing?
Perfect! That's part of the practice...how do we move through what we don't like? In the dance, it's a perfect opportunity to get curious about how your body moves to what your mind thinks is displeasing. Simply breathe, find the beat and put yourself in motion...and things will change. Resistance is futile :)
Can I just come anytime I want during the class time and leave when I want?
This work is designed to take you on a very deep journey, and every moment of the class is part of that journey. This also helps hold a safe and beautiful container for everyone in the group. When you come in late or leave early, the whole group feels it, whether you know it or not. And usually if you are wanting to leave early, it's a sign that there is some ripe material for you to dance through. Give yourself the gift of arriving at the beginning and staying until the end if at all possible. In fact, it is highly recommended to arrive early so you can be in the room and warmed up before the meditation begins.
We do realize that things come up in life, so if you need to come a few minutes later, that's ok. However, we do not let anyone in after the first 1/2 hour of class. And if you absolutely have to leave early for some reason, please let the teacher know at the beginning of class.
What do I do if strong emotions come up during class?
All emotions are welcome on the dance floor. This is the perfect place to bring your grief, your heartache, your joy, your anger, your frustration...what better way to move all this! Gabrielle Roth said it best when she said "Keep the psyche in motion, and it will heal itself".
Can I bring my child?
We're sorry, but no. This is a time for you. While we love children, and they can bring a beautiful joy and playfulness to the dance floor, it is more often a distraction to the inner work we are doing together.
Do your classes count toward the 5Rhythms or Open Floor Teacher Trainings?
Stacey is a certified 5Rhythms teacher, having trained directly with Gabrielle Roth. She also continues to study with various 5Rhythms teachers on a regular basis. However, due to issues having to do with integrity, Stacey is not a member of the 5Rhythms Teachers Association, so classes taken with her do not count as pre-requisites for the 5Rhythms teacher training. However, she is a member of the International Movement Teachers Association, and her classes and workshops count as pre-requisites toward the Open Floor Teacher Training.
Do you have any work trade or financial assistance?
Yes (for the events Stacey produces herself). If finances are the only thing keeping you from attending a workshop or class, please click here for more info.

Can I still come if I have an injury?
Yes, absolutely. We can easily get stuck in the idea that if one part of our body isn't able to move that we can't move at all. But in this practice, we learn that there is so much that can still move. For example, if you have hurt your ankle and can't put weight on it, you are welcome to come and sit in a chair and find the parts of you that CAN move. We are happy to accommodate those with physical limitations.
I had a knee injury during Summer Dance Camp in 2012, and she spent the whole week dancing in a chair. I found so much movement in the rest of my body, it was incredible!
